ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Elegguá II (2014) is a two-piece large format sculpture, made in the technique of collagraph on wood. It is a personal representation of the "Orisha" or Yoruba deity called Eleggua: leader, messenger, influencer, balancing the good and bad and owner of the roads and destiny. This deity has a particular power not only on religionists but also on other Orishas, so we have a piece that -manifested in a head full of texture and color on a high base- expresses power, strength, greatness, mystery and respect.
