Inspiration for the EX VOTO series came mostly from Savaldor, Bahia, Brazil. The votive offerings in the candomble room in the back of Senhor do Bonfim church are surreal and eerily beautiful. A room full of wax casts of limbs and body parts cover the room as a way of praying for the health of a loved one. Salvador once had a church for every day of the week- Norwich (Laura's home city) once had a pub for every day of the week. For the UK- Pub Culture = Religion This is a hand cast and finished hand candle made from 100% sustainable locally sourced Beeswax. Beeswax detoxifies the air as it burns - so effectively this is a healing hand. It's hoped that the viewer will understand the connotations of the hand gesture and will feel the warmth, humour and lightness of this piece.

Laura Such is an award-winning artist based in Southwold, Suffolk, UK. Her work explores a myriad of themes including feminism, social injustices, and the human condition. The relationship between material and form is often held together through a humorous, tense, and sometimes fragile connection. Working with traditional materials positions her work in the canon of sculpture, while her use of found objects and humour traces a line back to the extraordinary world of Dada. Some of her works can be considered as monuments to failure and the absurd, while some pieces are celebrations of femininity. Such’s work has been featured in group exhibitions in Cambridge, Norwich, London, and recently her work was selected for the I Love You Moi Non Plus exhibition in Paris. Her work is kept in private collections in the UK, Europe and the USA
