About The Artwork

Olga explores the different variations that are possible in the composition and plays with the shapes and colors. This series of abstract works showcase strong rhythmic connections between space and shape, which are enhanced by the ability of white surface to adapt to its environment and reflect colors. The artwork is made up of rectangles in a chaotic order that are connected to the surface at different angles. Each rectangle has one white side, and the reverse side of some other vivid color. The vibrant color side of the rectangle creates soft pastel color reflection on the white side of other rectangles. This way the color tint comes from different directions mixing together and creating beautiful gradients. The rectangles are placed in such a way that faced to the viewer with white side but tinted from color reflection and creates a very calm color palette. At the opposite side of artwork the viewer sees bright and bold color composition that can have a powerful effect on emotions. These colors will grab your attention and stand out from their surroundings while the pastel side of artwork has a peaceful, calming and sophisticating effect on you.

Olga passionate about art ever since she was a kid. She feels like she was born to be an artist. The choice of profession was obvious to her. Olga formerly worked as an illustrator, graphic designer and she painted photorealistic portraits on commission  before turning to full-time paper artist.  Skorokhod experimented with different techniques and materials while she was in Ukraine in hopes of finding her own art style in which she could constantly develop and be recognized worldwide. But it wasn’t until she completely stepped out of her comfort zone and moved to the U.S. that she eventually found it. Art is necessary for Olga. It’s like breathing. You can’t live without oxygen, so Olga can’t live without art. She craved to create. Since Olga had a small budget and couldn’t afford paint and canvas, she started working with the most affordable printer paper. It turns out paper was exactly what Olga has been looking for because she always liked monochromatic high textured artworks, and cutting by hand was a form of healing meditation for her. "If you are a professional artist and you have a sense of destiny to create, then you can make a piece of art from anything. It doesn't matter what materials and tools to use." That is how Olga Skorokhod’s paper art journey began. Olga’s sculptures are created by inspiration of nature's fascinating beauty. She likes natural formation and their textures. Olga intends for each viewer to feel an emotional response to her works by sharing through her universe of artistic expression. Olga’s work showcases strong rhythms between space and shape and favors complementary color palettes. Her artworks have the illusion of 3D because of the paper sculpture techniques she uses. Today, Olga Skorokhod is a prizewinning artist whose works have been featured in more than 50 exhibitions nationally and internationally. Olga’s works are in private collections in more than 15 countries. She has publications In more than 15 blog posts. Olga’s  artworks were featured on CNN Indonesia. Olga Skorokhod is a bestselling woman artist on Saatchi Art. Also, her works are included in “The Paper Craft Ideas Book” by Jessica Baldry. Paper sculptures were selected by Austrian company “MM Carton” between 13 selected artists from all over the world for the corporate Passion of Cartonboard 2018 and 2019 calendar. Several students have written their diplomas and doctorates based on Olga’s works.
