Fear Study #1 is part of my Lurking Fear series. It is an attempt to not show what we are fearful of, but to explore fear as an entity. Pamela Flynn is a mixed media artist. Her studio is in New Jersey. She received her MFA from New Jersey City University and is a Professor of Art and Fine Art Coordinator at Holy Family University, Philadelphia, PA. Flynn exhibits across the United States and Korea. She has a traveling anti gun violence project titled Considering Harm, which is traveling across the US. She has received awards and grants for her socially conscious work. Flynn speaks to the creation of ceramic buds with this statement. "My work usually focuses on social issues. The work is heavy with content that is disturbing and controversial. Making my socially charged work can be taxing. Theses bud images are my relief. They are peaceful studies of nature/form and one's tactile/visual response to nature. They are meant to provide contemplative solace to the viewer as they do for the maker. The pieces are ceramic clay painted with oil paint. They range in size and are made to be wall hanging or free standing. They are made spontaneously or in response to a commission. They are a joy to make and a joy to behold."
