About The Artwork
An upright piece carved from ash wood which varies in interesting and beguiling ways as it is viewed in the round. All my works are self evident and self explanatory. My aim is always to create pieces which work in the round. I believe in working in a state of play and the identity of the piece emerges out of that process. I learn about the pieces as I live with them.

I have a life-time involvement with sculpture. I started with 3 years studying life-modelling. Worked as assistant to Henry Moore (1961-62). Taught sculpture at Sunderland and Norwich Art Schools. Then went self-employed designing and making furniture. Stopped teaching 1980. Now enjoying retirement, making sculpture in a state of play.
