About The Artwork
Mushrooms are symbolic of rebirth as they feed and sprout from decaying material. Similarly, my mushrooms are born from the waste material of Santa Cruz Landfill and Recycling Center. I currently have three pairs of mushrooms of different forms, sizes, and recycled metals. My mushrooms are representative of how our waste is growing and expanding. Mushrooms are also a sign of good fortune, so I hope to inspire our Santa Cruz community to take action in reducing waste.
