About The Artwork
Reading of the battles around Lake Ladoga during the Siege Of Leningrad. During the spring thaw the soldiers killed on the frozen lake could be seen floating down the Neva river on ice flows through the city . The first sighting of their beseigers . The image is rather surreal and i felt the need to depict it in my chosen medium. i studied in St Petersburg and the history of the Siege has always fascinated .

Full time sculptor . I trained in Winchester School Of Art then the Russian Academy of Arts in St Petersburg. Whilst in Russia i had the oportunity to work with the inheritors of the ir native monument tradition and humanist ideals. Proffessors Sveshnikov and Karnaev in particular influenced my evolving style. I work from life when possible. my maquettes often lean away from Realism towards Expressionism. Particularly interested in sculpting military subjects from history alongside ballet and equestrian. I am Based at the moment In Winchester ,UK. My works number in the collections of Bernie Ecclestone, Jim Mellon and Nicholas Lyndhurst.
