I was born in Temiscamingue, Quebec, Canada. Creations of all sorts have always been a natural necessity for me. Art is a langage and if you don't know the words, you just can't express what you have in mind. To give oneself freely and joyfully to the work of form, one must know his material intimately. Then, eventually, something mysterious happens. The work comes alive and is inhabitated by a breath. It's as true for a bowl as it is for a master painting. To me, this approach is self-sufficient and does not need a theme or intellectual discourse. What imerges from such an object is beyond words. That is why I interupted my studies in visual arts at Laval University in Quebec city and left the conceptual teaching to learn with master portraitists who tought me, like in the old days. Portrait on command, the foundation of my entreprise Atelier Dufaux, teaching, monumental murals, and sculpture brought me a vast experimental knowing and gave me the possibility to accomplish a wide variety of artworks. I spent a few years on the coordination and artistic direction for architectural monumental murals in Quebec city, Montreal and Sherbrooke. Since a few years, I work avidly in the comfort of my studio and sell in galleries. I also came back to my first love: I create unique ceramic pieces.
