Woven piece inspired in the mushrooms that grow in nature. It has a silk warp and the weft is based on a cotton-silk yarn, fique (a sturdy plant fiber) and hand made ceramic buttons. The heaviness of the ceramic buttons contrast with the lightness of the free weft as the earth and the air around us.

I was born in Colombia in 1978 to an artist and an architect. I have three siblings and we grew up in a rural environment in the heart of the Andes, where nature and art were present in my everyday life. After high school, I studied anthropology and started working with indigenous communities in the Amazonian region in a project that aimed to provide women a steady income for their households through their crafts. During this time I became close to the craft making of these indigenous groups and learned a lot from them. I was especially attracted to the textile work, and it impelled me to pursue the possibilities of implementing it with my own artistic perspective. Later on I moved to New York where I learned to weave and became passionate about fiber art. After a few years in the United States, I moved to Barcelona (Spain) where I studied textile art and found, progressively, a space of expression in weaving. Now I live in Marseille (France) with my family (husband and two children) where I have established myself and my artistic work. I have also moved from weaving to collage as a main technique of expression.
