About The Artwork

This piece was created to replicate planet Earth. Made with small shards of multicolored borosilicate glass, the piece has an abstract mosaic effect and relfects a myriad of hues depeding on the light. This pendant has four clear bumps at the base which magnify the colors beneath, giving it a pleasing tactile effect. The inner diameter of the clasp measures 4mm, large enough for a thin chain or a cord. This piece has been kiln annealed for adde dudrbility, and to bring out the true colors of the boro glass.

Nicole Seaton is a flameworker who divides her time between Northern Nevada, California and Hawaii. Raised on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, Seaton gained an early appreciation for hours lost in creation during Tahoe's snowy winters. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, earning a dual major in Spanish and International Relations. Seaton studied abroad in Argentina and the Basque country, and she speaks Basque and Spanish. While she never took an art class in college, her artistic career began at the tender age of seven, when she discovered the bead store. Her astute grandmother realized that the inquisitive child was content for hours with a few beads and a ball of twine. After two decades of jewelry-making, Seaton decided to learn how to make her own beads. Today, Seaton ships her glass to every corner of the globe. JavaFlame Glass is currently shown in galleries throughout Northern Nevada and California. Although jewelry is her preferred medium, Seaton also makes small glass sculptures and digital art with closeups of her glass pieces. Seaton was a Burning Man artist for two decades, and feels that the event has been an intrinsic part of shaping her art and worldview.
