In this art work, in a figurative way, I wanted to emphasize that the genocide has been going on from the past to the present with an example of extinct mammoth. The mammoth fossil in the center is in the form of a skeleton, its ivory remains in a white color, highlighting the fact that this creature is slaughtered for the most valuable part of it and it is still valuable for the people nowadays.
The fossil is surrounded with the red triangular pieces, representing the spears of human who slaughtered this creature, while the green color reflects the nature which they lived in.
The outermost dark frame represents the human rights of this creature are restricted by humans. I tried to express that millions of men, women and children have lost their lives in genocide by giving example of same genocide that mammoth experienced. The wood I used in this art work is handmade to the finest details. The ivory of the mammoth are made of a single piece of wood. The green-colored region is assembled as a whole, consisting of approximately 400 pieces. The frame, which consists of the four outer parts, is carved in a rustic style with tree roots.
I did not use a single technique during the painting of this work. In this case, I chose powder painting; also I used thinner to antiquing wood and finally gave shades with airbrush.
