About The Artwork

Shadowbox. Painted timber and found objects encased in a glass fronted box, illuminated by an electric bulb. This shadowbox depicts a ship built in the Dublin Shipyard in 1911. The ship's decking, superstructure, masts and rigging are painted with phosphorescent paint whichs absorbs light from the electric bulb, then glows in the dark when the shadowbox is switched off.
