About The Artwork
Long drips of paint are utilised as threads in this multi-coloured woven work. The interchange of warp and weft provides reinforcement and allows the paint to transform into an unsupported object. Like a textile the paint drapes across the canvas resulting in an unusual and highly unique work with elegant dimensionality. Framed in a pale timber chunky frame this is contemporary art that is as engaging as it is innovative. The work is secured to canvas. It is fitted with D rings and wire for immediate hanging. On the front, you will find my initials. On the back is my signature, title and, year. This painting is registered with the NRAA (National Registry for Australian Artists). Details of this registration are provided as well as a Certificate of Authenticity.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
