ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Goddess Sekhmet is an ancient Egyptian Goddess who offers us protection and courage in the face of our fear. She is a great healer and powerful protector. She is based off of the standing Sekhmet Sculptures that are still in the Sacred Ancient Temple city of Karnak in Egypt. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York. The ancient Sekhmet Statues in the Brooklyn Art Museum and at The Metropolitan Museum of Art profoundly affected me as a young person. I continue to visit the original incredible statues of Sekhmet and have tried to channel Her potent energy with my altar top statues. I first began making Sekhmet imagery and statuary for my own personal sacred practice. I was then asked to create some as gifts. Immediately others interested in the Egyptian Pantheon asked me to create more images and statuary for the public. I have found the Egyptian Gods to resonate with universal and elemental forces that all people have need of. All people, regardless of religious affiliation, have access to these divine aspects. One need only give thanks to Sekhmet for Her available wellness and protection. No other active request is needed for Her assistance to be present. When connecting with Sekhmet, it is more than enough to respectfully thank Her for Her healing and protection with the particular situation you are experiencing. She will stand with you and grant you courage as you walk through life's fires. She is a potent divinity; it is best NOT to ask Her to actively intervene against an adversary. Simply thank Her for the protection that is needed. This Sekhmet Statue is Ivory White glazed slip cast sculpture that I make to order by hand. Sometimes I have Statues ready to ship. If my inventory is out, it may take up to 2-4 weeks for the entire process to create your individual statue. It is humbling work and an honor to have been called to serve Sekhmet and help others in this way. Thank you.
