While researching mans evolution in Indonesia, Ron and his team 'The Five Elements' developed the idea to focus their efforts on the pre-Neolithic “Java man”. as a life sized sculpture. Spontaneously, this led the team to their understanding of the Five Elements concept. The Java man (Homo erectus erectus) is the name given to fossils discovered in 1891 at Trinil - Ngawi Regency on the banks of the Solo River in East Java- Indonesia, one of the first known specimens of Homo erectus. Its discoverer, Eugene Dubois, gave it the scientific name Pithecanthropus erectus, a name derived from Greek and Latin roots meaning upright ape-man. (Source Wikipedia) Homo erectus, an extinct species of the genus Homo, that lived from about 1.8 million years ago (mya) to 50-70,000 years ago, is an important find, since it is believed to be the first close human ancestor to leave Africa and the first human ancestor to walk truly upright. The initial 1891 discovery has been dated to about 400,000 years ago. Originally, H. erectus was believed to have disappeared roughly 400,000 years ago, but some deposits in Java thought to contain H. erectus fossils were dated at only 50,000 years ago, which would mean that at least one population would have been a contemporary of modern humans (Source New World Encyclopaedia) This is an unprecedented and one of a kind work in Hot Glass Sculpture. The individual parts are embedded in a mixed Media framework replicating a weather exposed archeological find.

Ron Seivertson Ron Seivertson 1961, Sacramento, California USA] is a hot glass artist who lives on the edge with an intense devotion to his craft. Creating masterpieces from the point of view that everything is possible and to do what seems can not be done. "Hot glass artist Ron Seivertson creates light filled forms of blown and sculpted hot glass, extra ordinary in their expression and textural luminosity" Trisha Sertori, Jakarta Post "He is clearly on the leading edge of glass blowing. His tonally rich and diverse blown art, conjures great thinking with simple pleasing forms. But Seivertson likes to break rules and molds. He investigates the far reaches of what blown glass should be and yet delivers stunningly beautiful, luminous and entertaining art." Carolyn M. Scott, Executive Director Turtle Island Films, Santa Rosa, California USA Before realizing he was destined for something else Ron spent more then 20 years in carpentry and fine home building as a general contractor. At the age of 37 he reawakened the child artist in him (or visa-versa) with oil painting and sculpting long before finding hot glass as his ultimate medium in 2003. From that moment of discovery, Ron took to glassblowing and sculpting quickly and naturally. He first studied intensely in Seattle Washington USA and Melbourne Australia. He has attained his most masterful lessons at The Pilchuck Glass School. Being a glassblower is based in his DNA, so to speak, as he found out during his first years that his great grandfather was a glassblower from Norway and that persons with his surname have been working with Hot Glass in Scandinavia and Northern Europe for more than 200 years. The Alchemy and fluidity of the Hot Glass process are the big drive and given the rigors of this art form, allowing magic and passion's tenacity. Ron's Horizon Glassworks Studio in Bali Indonesia is his arena of pursuing the creation of master pieces and the unprecedented. In his first 5 years of practice Ron Seivertson became renowned to the glass community and has been steadily emerging more and more, all over the world. He has a strong reputation and is widely regarded for producing stunning glass art works that are unique in their style, expressions and form. Artist statement "Many artists have moments of powerful influence from the works of others that compel them to go a certain direction with their work or move into a style or medium.
