Mikey Kim 김성현 is a Korean-American ceramic sculptor based in the Sierra. After growing up in Northern California, he moved to New York in 2010 to pursue his MFA at the Fashion Institute of Technology. His work explores the tension between refinement and decay, control and erosion. Working primarily in ceramic, Kim creates objects that feel unearthed rather than constructed. His sculptures reference myth, relic, and organism, forms that appear weathered, fragmented, or partially transformed. Through texture, voids, and irregular surface treatments, he investigates permanence, fragility, and the passage of time. His work has been exhibited internationally in public, corporate, gallery, and private collections, including the Past, Present, Future exhibition at AC Gallery in Los Angeles (2019). He has also participated in SXSW as an experimental artist exploring the intersection of art and design.
