There is a contemplative power inherent in my sculptures. They hint at a moment in which the observer catches a glance of him/herself and which he/she is able to fill with his/her own experiences. The observer is immersed in a specific yet timeless scene which is touching in its simplicity, authenticity and purity. I am driven by the human search for inner balance. Out of balance, people become sensitive and vulnerable. The observer of my figures, on the other hand, is made aware of his/her own vulnerability, but I release him/her with a new sense of confidence and strength. I model in clay and then cast the sculptures in bronze, which underlines the search for clarity and balance and at the same time permits extremely fine, delicate work. Patination offers such a diversity of effects that the actual materiality plays a subordinate role.
