ABOUT THE ARTWORK
*SOLD TO A COLLECTOR IN PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA* 'Kure' wall sculpture 2014 oil paint on burnt & wire-brushed plywood boat sail-like form, with small driftwood boat piece, & steel (re-worked plywood 'Hiroshima' print-block, from 2001). As a Merchant Seaman my father sailed to Japan in March 1946. Having docked at Kure, the opportunity arose for him to visit Hiroshima by train, just 28 weeks after the dropping of the atomic bomb. He bore witness to the horror of war.
