Lattice Sculpture

My work explores visual and emotive experiences of light phenomena in the landscape and spaces we occupy. Particular interests are the meditative surface, in the form of dappled light and reflection, and optical effect through visual oscillation of surface and depth. The mirror and glass wall-mounted objects balance qualities such as shine, transparency and fluidity with painterly effects, layered forms and motifs. The works absorb and reflect, activating their setting and eliciting varied responses depending on their orientation and the position of the viewer. I make extensive studies to develop crafted pieces. These include drawing with mirror ink, watercolour, printing and etching reflective surfaces. Working with a range of mediums i have developed a unique process, combining techniques in marquetry, etching and reverse glass painting. My work has been exhibited in commercial galleries and museums in the UK and internationally. Works are held in a number of private collections and include drawings, prints, and sculptures as well as limited edition pieces and commissioned installations.
