ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This sculpture represents a balloon in the shape of a dog. Before creating the work, the artist had a 5-year-old boy draw the famous balloon dog by jeff koons. the little dog was then built from the child's drawing by inflating the steel. The materials used are ferrous steel for the dog, while the base is in old larch wood.

Andrea was born in Trento (Italy), on October 1, 1985. He is an Italian artist who lives and works in Coredo, a small tourist locality in the Dolomites of northern Italy. Self-taught metal sculptor, he began to work at the age of 17 in the metalworking sector with various artisans in the area, where he deepened different working techniques such as welding, forging, burnishing. It is however in the intimacy of his workshop that he began to approach sculpture and define his own artistic identity, giving life to his first works inspired by natural subjects, of which his mountains are rich: plants, flowers, animals. The passion for metals combined with the refinement of the technique led him to explore new approaches aimed at studying the human form, in particular the creation of female nudes. A theme that is currently very dear to the artist. His sculptures are mainly made of iron, stainless steel and weathering steel, combining materials such as wood, stone and concrete. His works are the expression of the natural chrome plating of metals that derive directly from the processing techniques, without any subsequent addition of paint or color, which in the artist's opinion would thus compromise their uniqueness.
