About The Artwork

The fight between the Lapiths, a mythical population of the Thessaly, and the centaurs is the subject represented in the metopes of the South side of Parthenon. At the wedding of Pirithous, king of the Lapiths, a centaur tries to rape Hippodamia, the bride; therefore begun a bloody battle that ends with the victory of Lapiths .Naturally this is a metaphor that represents the fight between rationality and bestiality in the human being. I think it is interesting to repeat in a contemporary key these works using waste materials instead of pentelic marble. The metaphor is always current: Culture, Art and Solidarity opposed to SUVs, shopping malls, big brothers, arrogance , vulgarity etc .... .
