ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The honey bear image is derived from the infusion of multiple influences and ideas coalescing into a multifaceted and metaphoric representation of the artist. It took little time to recognize the power of the honey bear image for both the artist and the viewer. The company logo, tagline, and other aspects of corporate, and personal, identity evolved quickly from the first inspiration to create a sidekick for political teapots in 2004. Love Bear: Infected is made specifically for the series presented by False Negative Art, titled Through Lyme Colored Lenses: Health as Commodity wherein the Artist reflects autobiographical experiences pertaining to years of battling Lyme Disease as a vehicle to discuss Healthcare more broadly. Each porcelain bear is Lyme green with a gold IV bag decal.
