Based in Istanbul, Duygu Ugur reimagines the concept of human rights through a lens that seamlessly fuses tradition, history, and contemporary culture. Her work reflects an intimate engagement with these themes, combining artistic expression with a deep commitment to social justice. Ugur’s practice explores the profound relationship between artwork and its environment, transforming sculptures into poignant narratives through immersive installations. Rather than fixating on the individual piece, she creates spaces that invite viewers to engage emotionally, offering them a chance to experience the themes of her work viscerally. Ugur’s educational journey spans diverse disciplines. She holds a degree in Engineering, followed by an MBA in International Business from Regent’s University in London, and further studied International Relations at Escuela de Negocios Caixanova in Spain. During her time in London (2008-2013), she pursued art courses at Central Saint Martins, sharpening her creative vision. Her focus has been on raising awareness about human rights issues, particularly those concerning refugees, minority groups, and children. Through her innovative work, Ugur continues to push boundaries, making powerful statements about the intersection of art, identity, and human dignity.
