About The Artwork

BACK TO THE NATURE collection This collection has been contrived as a unifying concept or an impulse inspired by the beauty of the ending summer. The beauty that is so astounding and powerful, and at the same time quite delicate, fitting in subtle, expressive and extremely vivacious shapes, ajoure of lines and colours of a sole green leaf which itself is so ephemeral and is part of the eternal circle of the nature. The shape of a green leaf resembles a water-drop, a drop of fresh water of life, that we need so badly in our lives surrounded by severe stonewalls of city. I would like to remind others that the civilisation is not the only source and aim of the beauty and good, because the beauty lies in the life, which at the same time is very simple and complex. I was trying to embody the associations and thoughts inspired by the green leaf in my artworks, choosing a very simple and vital material - the wood - with the typical textures and roughness of its growth, carving my objects from the natural background so that they create the space around them as all creatures of nature do. Uncomplicated and non-pretentious colours are designed to give rest to our eyes, exhausted by the brilliance and motley of civilisation, whereas gentle humorous plots and characters infect us with positive thinking, often effected by communication with a child or spending time in a natural untouched countryside, because we are all children of the nature. To summarise these thoughts I chose the saying of J. J. Rousseau: Back to the nature.
