Shaun Rennell is a Kiwi born engineer and natural creative working out of his studio/workshop based in Christchurch on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand creating unworldly and uniquely captivating sculpture predominantly from re-purposed car and motorcycle parts. In 1983 at the age of 17 Shaun became involved in the automotive industry qualifying as an Automotive Engineer. It was during this time that he perfected his welding and metal shaping skills. Shaun’s work is heavily influenced by his passion for Science Fiction and in more recent times Steampunk culture. These influences coupled with a strong automotive flavor born through his experiences as an Automotive Engineer have gifted Shaun the ability to take both him and those whom view his work to another time and place. Although hard wired into every fibre, Shaun’s creative urges remained virtually untapped for many years. In 2008 he was afforded the opportunity to follow his lifelong dream. Since then he has completed many private commissions. His work has sold throughout New Zealand and Australia and can be viewed in various Galleries and Exhibitions across the country. Shaun invites you to spend a little time in his world of strange beauty and captivating wonder…..don’t be afraid!
