Concrete sculpture, matte painted (acrylic or quartz). Comes numbered (catalogue) and hand-signed by the artist. This work belongs to the NEW FRACTURES series. The choice of neoclassicism subjects is not casual, it’s a deliberate reflection about multi-faceted aesthetic in Western countries. Nevertheless, the piece is not only a merely aesthetical exercise, but it wants to trigger viewer’s mind with some deeper questions. What shall we do to pick up the pieces of our fractured society and get back to work on our most pressing issues? Do we really need a cure for our “fractures” or divisions can be simply seen as fundamental bases of our democratic social life? The sculpture is painted in different color combinations (4 at the moment). Each color combination is a unique piece. Please note that the sculpture is made in white CONCRETE through a manual procedure, assembling 4 different pieces. Minimal fractures may appear on its surface during its long natural hardening process. Due to the material used the artwork is quite heavy (approx. 11 kg).

Emanuele Palermo is an emerging Italian artist, living in Milan. He has been creating paintings since his Art Studies. From 2012 to 2017, he has been part of the Art Duo Drill Monkeys, together with Alessandro Padovan. During that time, they exposed their works in different Galleries (in Italy and abroad), they also took part to public exhibitions and several auctions. Lately, while Alessandro started working independently, Emanuele has focused more on his design job, working for several design firms. Nevertheless, he kept alive his passion for Art. The artist is working on series projects: “series” refers to a collection of pieces of art that have a common theme, each on exploring different aesthetics and topics. Recognizability is often considered a desirable goal for painters, but at the same times it may become a limiting path that keeps the artist always on the same road. He mostly creates one-off pieces or very small editions.
