Feather, my first horse. He was an Appaloosa stallion who taught me the lesson of unity between man and horse. Oftentimes, I felt one with feather. Every horse is different, but each have a perfect mix of strength and fragility. They are very conscious beings, feeling deeply and immediately. Unlike people, horses respond to your instincts and hidden emotion — creating a magical silent dance. Every curve of a horse is elegant and gives clues to a horse’s emotions, thoughts, and intentions. I wanted to focus on the face of a horse as it captures the purest honesty a being can have with oneself. The pose of the sculpture was inspired by Nic Fiddian Green’s Still Water. Santa Cruz SCRAP program. Recycled Metals (scrap metals, shovels, hole digger, garden tools, metal fans and more)
