Mi Corazón de Taxco is from my 2019 series of Valentine's Day sculptures. This piece was inspired by my love and collecting of Mexican silver. During the 1920's an American architect/artist named William Spratling started a school of jewelry and silversmithing in the small town of Taxco. This piece combined that Mexican structure with the filigree work of plasma cut steel. The central point being the beautiful encircled heart. A compelling tribute to love. A beautiful gift for someone special.

“Great art, whether it be paintings, sculptural, functional, or audio has a presence and a spirit which is truly felt. I seek to incorporate that presence, that spirit into every piece I create. Art is an unfounded religion whose inspiration comes from a divine source. The power is within each of us, and we should use it in everything we do, in all walks of life. It is the power of transformation—transformation of the mundane into the divine.” During my childhood and throughout my lifetime, two major influences have shaped my artistic journey: art, with a primary focus on drawing, and a passion for reading. I consistently have been drawn to themes such as sci-fi, fantasy, ancient cultures, myths, the occult, and the metaphysical. Through the utilization of found objects and reclaimed steel I can form new life into discarded materials, transforming the outcast into art—a truly alchemical process. I am primarily driven by intuition rather than a predetermined plan.
