Facette Gallery / 'The Art of Resilience'. Gallery Representation / Las Laguna Art Gallery MISSION Rooted in facilitating wellness and healing through the philosophy of embracing imperfection and finding beauty and strength in the ‘broken’ areas of self. The message is a metaphor: the process of healing—whether physical, emotional, or conceptual—is itself an art; beautiful and worthy of celebration. Creating pieces focused on eco-friendliness, sustainability and upcycling with an artistic combination of avante-garde European luxury and Japanese heritage. Diana's work explores the powerful art of kintsugi, the traditional Japanese practice of mending broken pottery with gold, silver, or platinum. This art form, which dates back to the 13th century, celebrates imperfection and the passage of time, transforming damage into something beautiful and meaningful. Diana Miller of Facette Gallery pushes the boundaries of this ancient tradition with a modern take on kintsugi, incorporating contemporary + modern design, materials, and narratives into the practice. The work showcases a diverse collection of modern kintsugi pottery that blends the ancient art of mending with current aesthetic and philosophical explorations. Each piece tells a story of resilience, of embracing flaws rather than concealing them, allowing the object’s history to become a part of its beauty. The bold use of gold paint, curated pottery and innovative techniques highlights the intersection of time, craftsmanship, and transformation. Through this work, Diana hopes to inspire viewers to reframe their understanding of beauty, value, and the possibility of growth through destruction and reflect on their own relationships with imperfection and the idea of repair. In an age where perfection is often idealized, this work asks us to reconsider the notion of ‘brokenness’ as something to be feared or hidden. Instead, it proposes that the process of healing—whether physical, emotional, or conceptual—is itself an art; beautiful and worthy of celebration. This work not only celebrates the art of kintsugi but also emphasizes the universal themes of healing, renewal, and the transformative power of art and the human soul. KINTSUGI Modern I employ a Modern Kintsugi Process in my shop to achieve a more dynamic and versatile look, as well as being able to price pieces lower for accessibility than I would if I used the traditional process.
