About The Artwork

A repurposed stack of empty CD cases, coated in asphalt, becomes a plinth for a monument to the absurd realities of modern life. Our cities and landscapes are dotted with monuments to heroes, battles, glorious deeds, politicians, etc. This series of small works memorializes the banal and the absurd, turning them into mini-monuments for your favorite venture capitalist or war-pig's desk! Turn the boardroom into a historical site or icy authoritarian plaza! These works repurpose a variety of found objects, old projects, odds and ends or recycled materials, and bigger/bolder plans that never got finished. They are snarky and sarcastic. This work features an old fashioned clown piggybank with moveable head. Put a coin in his mouth and it will fall into his belly when he tips his head forward. Fun!

Dominic is best known for his room-filling installations and repetitive cast objects that combine to create an industrial mass-produced sensibility to his sculpture. His current body of work is a critical response to the disproportionate role of the Military Industrial Complex in society. His practice has been heavily influenced by time spent in the aerospace industry where he was responsible for producing fabrication and assembly drawings for satellites, military aircraft, and mobile artillery units. He is a native of Chicago Illinois and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and a Master of Fine Arts from the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis. Dominic has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions across the United States.
