About The Artwork

Recalls the casting process of 16th c. ceramist Bernard Palissy (the progenitor of the 18th century genre Palissyware) who embedded clay casts of living creatures into his basins, simulations of the saltwater swamps he theorized to be the origin place of life. Here, the ceramic is replaced with glass and the neon provides the life-giving light.
