L’Optical Art è un tipo di Arte Astratta, strettamente legato ai movimenti dell’Arte Cinetica e dell’Arte Costruttivista. Il movimento conosciuto anche come OP-Art nasce intorno agli anni sessanta e approfondisce l’esame e lo studio dell’illusione bidimensionale. Nata utilizzando solo il Bianco ed il Nero, l’Optical Art ingloba in seguito anche i colori, sempre allo scopo di offrire allo spettatore opere in due dimensioni che danno l’impressione di movimento, di immagini nascoste o lampeggianti, oppure che si gonfino o si deformino.Gli artisti della Optical Art, per stimolano e coinvolgere l’osservatore, realizzano opere che lo inducono in uno stato di instabilità percettiva. La Op Art riprende la ricerca di altre correnti dando risalto ai puri valori visivi. Questo scopo viene realizzato attraverso linee collocate in griglie modulari e strutturali diverse,attraverso l’accostamento opportuno di particolari soggetti astratti o sfruttando il colore,affinché le loro opere provochino illusioni ottiche, tipicamente di movimento. Gli artisti della Op Art, agli inizi degli anni Sessanta applicarono gli studi dalla Psicologia Percettiva al mondo artistico per realizzare opere con proprietà di illusione e distorsione ottica. In origine il movimento Op Art venne criticato considerando mancanza di originalità le loro applicazioni confrontandole con le opere dei Bauhaus, di De Stijl.

English GIO was born in Naples May 4, 1976, after technical studies, is dedicated to graphic design and photography, never forgetting his passion for art. In 2009 he founded the group Moga, where works published in limited editions of artists and designers worldwide. In his current works you feel the contamination of philosophy Memphis, the great master E. Sottsass, the geometry of Bridget Riley, but also the nerve to Mimmo Rotella, Mario Schifano and Robert Rauschenberg, without neglecting the imprint decadent and melancholy Janez Bernik. His works are exhibited in France, United States, Australia, England, Japan and Italy. She is currently working in parallel with the construction of works in ceramics, plexiglass, wood and collage on canvas that attract collectors from all over the world.
