ABOUT THE ARTWORK
When designing this sculpture I was exploring form and balanced supporting structures. Inspired by architecture and structural engineering I strive to invent structures never before seen. The steel rods are placed through holes in the top steel plate then the concrete is formed over them. This is all secured merely by the angles of the rods locked into place when the concrete dries. Five of the seven steel rods have a collar of glass tubing with a touch of melted aluminum adorning jagged edges.
