About The Artwork

London's girl that remind me the paintings of Fiammetta. Pre-raphaelites style and ideology is fascinating me and I am finding a lot of those characters and souls in modern London.

Monika Jenowein works in Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland. During the summer time lives and works in London. In 1998 she has gained the First Prize for the Hero Sculpture and was invited to join the Polish Constructionist National Society. In 1999 she has got Scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and Art. Since than for almost twenty years she has been creating portraits of people, in many mediums such from painting, photography to sculpturing. She admits, that sculpturing portraits is more special and noble for her comparing to other media. Her passion is to capture the personal nature in an artistic way as well as the characteristic traits and experience that are passed through multiple generations. She is exploring to 'think with her hands' in order to what to give away in the very first impression to the future observer and which characteristics slowly unveil, once is looked all over sides, angles and different lighting. She finds exciting to change between styles and periods in order to reflect the souls and aspirations of her clients. The materials nowadays are adding another vast spectrum to her sculpture portraiture exploration. Monika loves sculpturing members of families and find out which traits they pass to their successive generations. She find also extremely interesting about sculpting famous people, capture what goes under their skin, whether is this special talent or destination, that made their facial and body expressions. She is also saying she has discovered over her work experience, that once the portrait bust of ordinary person is done, he/she fills obliged to make something special in their life for others, to be remembered and recognized and it is usually happening... Monika Patyczek collaborates and have collaborated with numerous English Institutions. Her latest sculpture series of “Londoners” were inspired by people from London. Their Portraits are a mixture of Ancient, Pre-Raphaelites and Contemporary characters, which she recognizes in her friends and clients and presented in London Farringdon earlier this year. All her portraits are sculpted in fine English clay, which she adores to work with. Fired in the kiln, so the originals are conserved and personally hand cast in different materials such as bronze, plaster or concrete.
