Ovaltin™ #1 represents one of GD Todd's initial Tin Can-vas Series of artworks. This Series comprises reclaimed metal tin cans, digitally overprinted with UV inks and overworked with fabricated sheet metal and wire elements, oven-cured and mounted within his trademark steel frame. Weighing 40 kg and measuring 1200 x 1200 x 50 mm, (88 lbs / 3' 111/4" x 3' 111/4" x 2") the work of GD Todd is substantial in both stature and development process, representing a product of metal, form, function, transition, language, design, humour, consumerism, industry, and flawed beauty.

Melbourne artist GD Todd produces unique artworks inspired and characterised by new and recycled metals. He describes his style as Grunky™ - referring to a combination of funky and industrial grunge. The inherent nature of the reclaimed metal, and therefore the artwork, is imperfect and comprises areas of rust, degradation, scuffs, imperfections, scratches and other irregularities which are considered desirable characteristics integral to the authenticity of the artwork. Larger artworks complement large and associated settings such as warehouse conversions while also contrasting with more austere backgrounds of corporate foyers, boardrooms and designer apartments. Smaller artworks are quite at home next to the telly.
