Pandemic 100 Sculpture

This work was created in memory of the great loss of life from the deadly influenza outbreak 100 years ago, commonly known as the Spanish Flu, 1918-1919. The spherical shape and the tentacles represent how this terrible Pandemic rapidly spread and erupted in many countries around the globe. The rounded end of the tentacles displays the compassion of mankind in working together to defeat the tragic diseases and plaques that have attacked life over the history of humanity and the crater in the middle of the tentacles demonstrates the pandemic receding. Coincidentally, the tentacles seen on this work have a strikingly similarity to the coronavirus icon used to inform us of the deadly pandemic that is currently ravaging the world. This work is produced from 6 mm thick high grade stainless steel by the worlds leading sphere fabricator. The workmanship is of an extremely high standard and the sphere shape is perfect. The tentacles are heavy walled castings and all surfaces, including the sphere, are perfectly mirror polished to true number 8 standard, super mirror, thus reflecting history. The sphere diameter is 100 cm which represents the 100 years and the tentacles are 20.19 cm long which represents the year this work was started. The work comes with an attractive mahogany plywood and poplar framed crate, which has a soft foam rubber lining to prevent the work from any international freight damage.
