About The Artwork

I have great fun producing these smaller Podenco hounds. They are a bit time consuming, and not always viable, but I will "keep on, keeping on" When my aluminium wire arrives from Germany, when my bio poliester resin arrives from Valencia via who knows where, when I get my masking tape from Italy via the local hardware store, when Amazon deliver my gold Mica powder from India, then I am complete. Now I must form the armature, then I build up the body with aluminium paper, then I tape it all tight, then when I consider it ready, I start to add layer upon layer of resins. The final two coats of resin contain gold mica, if I want that colour. When it has finally dried, I spray a coat of lacquer or two as a sealer.... quite a process, but it all adds up to an original and unique piece of my art.. Oh the most important factor to consider is the nearly 50 years of experiance that goes into each work that I create

Christopher Stone (b.1955 London) is a highly acclaimed British artist. After leaving school, he undertook a city and guilds apprenticeship in cabinet making. Later, turning to art he began studies at Central Saint Martins, Hornsey College of art, and later under the great Welsh sculptor Barry Flanagan. Over the years he has achieved an international following for his famous Podenco hounds. He has exhibited Internationally for over three decades. Christopher's work is included in many private, corporate, and museum collections worldwide. His work is his way of attacking philosophical questions that arise in life repeatedly, and although he takes his work very seriously he often manages to find somewhere to slip in a little humour.
