Raspberry pink was sifted on the final firings of this pink sculpture. Glass filaments were broken into small fragments and dispersed throughout the layers of glass as they were sifted onto the copper. The sculpture was fired at a lower temperature to maintain the hues of raspberry pink as it merged into whites and blacks found on the base color of the sculpture. The sculpture is mounted on a white custom painted frame.

Sherry Been, a Manhattan-based sculptor and enamellist, creates art that goes beyond mere exploration of color, form, and composition; it is a declaration of empowerment. Her work strives to elevate the voices and experiences of marginalized individuals and communities, infusing each piece with messages of love, acceptance, and strength. Her artwork often features heart shapes and carries a "You Matter" message. Sherry incorporates many colors into these hearts, capturing their textures in images and aspiring to bring them to life. Her goal is to elevate both herself and others through the energy of love and the integration of acceptance and empathy. The inspiration for Sherry's art comes from her "YOU MATTER" movement, which underscores the intrinsic value of every person. She believes that art has the power to transform not just spaces but also hearts, and it is this transformational quality that she aims to embody in her work. Each piece becomes a beacon, casting light into the shadows of prejudice and discrimination, and affirming the worth of all who encounter it. Sherry's creative process involves a deep connection with the stories and experiences of those who have been silenced or overlooked. By incorporating symbolic imagery, vibrant colors, and dynamic compositions, she seeks to create a sense of energy and resilience. Through these elements, her art communicates a message that is both personal and universal: everyone matters, and everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. Ultimately, Sherry's goal is to inspire a sense of empowerment and connection, inviting viewers to reflect on their own self-worth and the worth of others. Through her art, she hopes to contribute to a world where empathy, understanding, and equality are not just ideals but lived realities.
