About The Artwork

Inspired by the Rebecca Riots which took place in South and Mid Wales around 1839 to 1843. Men dressed as women and smashed the toll gates which were crippling local agricultural workers with their unjust and exorbitant high fees to pass through the gates. Steel symbolises strength was chosen as the medium. Size and colours cry out 'look at me, I am powerful and will fight oppression on all its forms, then and today'.
