About The Artwork

This artwork was specifically created for the book "Find Another Bath" (2016). Artists included in the book were asked to interpret specific historical locations in the city of Bath, England. In this case, the Bath Pavilion Music Hall was Broose's subject. The hall was built in the late 1800s and is pictured here during its renovation in 2016. The new building is now a casino with various amenities. "Recycled Music Hall" is a photo transparency of the Music Hall, in phosphorescent resin which glows in the dark. It is a unique one of a kind piece, which can be held, or placed to rest on a provided clear plastic stand.

BROOSE Gregory Dickinson (b. 1965 USA) established himself in Texas as an influential and prolific visual artist and musician. As a painter, band frontman (pop poppins, TOOMuchTV), and producer, Broose helped define the fledgling Deep Ellum underground art scene in Dallas during the 1980s and 1990s. In 2000, Broose built a studio in Splendora, Texas, where he would independently create art and music for the next ten years before moving to Bath, England. He has exhibited extensively in the US and Europe, and is currently a studio artist at 44AD Art Space. His accolades include VideoMaker Magazine's Hottest and Brightest award winner, finalist for the Hunting Art Prize, Visions International Art Prize, Holburne Museum Portrait Prize, Bath Prize, and nominee for several Dallas Observer Music Awards including best male vocalist, best musician, best singer/songwriter, best pop act, and best album. Broose studied life drawing and painting at the New York Studio School, and holds a BFA in painting from the University of Houston (summa cum laude), and an MFA in painting from the Bath School of Art and Design, UK.
