About The Artwork

Lucky rabbits feet....most know the superstition behind keeping a rabbit's foot, Luck. I wondered, how lucky is it for the rabbit? And I wondered, why is the rabbits foot associated with luck? I created this sculpture out of the need to ask the question, why and how was luck associated with rabbit's feet? Rabbit's feet, the exact origins of the belief are unclear, but several possible explanations exist: Celtic Mythology: Rabbits were associated with the moon goddess in Celtic cultures, and the moon was considered to influence luck and destiny. Symbolism: The rabbit's ability to evade predators and reproduce quickly might have led to its association with good fortune and protection. Contagious Magic: The belief that carrying a part of a lucky creature could transfer its luck to the owner might have played a role. Cultural Diffusion: The practice of carrying rabbit's feet for luck could have spread from one culture to another through trade and interaction. Over these past 22 + years, I have designed and created variety of utilitarian metal art pieces for people all over the U.S.A. My passion for art work has driven experimentation in metal sculpting when not working on commissioned wrought iron pieces. I'm interested in perspectives. How people view the world. I like to use wildlife as subjects that invoke meaning and explore the symbols that have been associated with the animal world.
