Andrés Schiavo Entre Rios, Argentina 1971. Andrés Schiavo is an autodidact and conceptual artist. He lives and works in Miami, USA. The conceptual work of Schiavo emerges from his compulsive and obsessive process using the pencil as his medium of primary interest. It is only when the viewer steps onto the work and inspects it from close range, that he can perceive the intricate arrangement of Schiavo’s geometric compositions. From precisely cut pencils up to slant-cut pieces, his works are compulsively arranged into series of sharp textured sculptures. For close to a decade, the artist leads the viewer to interact with the three-dimensional art works by creating visual illusions of landscapes and dynamic geometric figures. Throughout his entire creative process, Schiavo examines the boundaries and qualities of his most precious tool by the urge of what the artist himself describes as “an attempt to revive childhood memories’. His work has been exhibited at Art Miami, Art Market Hampton (NY) and Art Aspen during 2014, 2015 and 2016.
