About The Artwork

I've had these wood scraps, I've been saving them in the barn for 20 years or more. I ran out of mahogany to carve so ..... I like the idea of repurposed wood, a collection of scraps with the history of where it's been, and what it once was a part of. Nicks, scratches, imperfections, awkward, odd shapes, these are things that I find interesting. They project vulnerability, humility, and hopefully humor. The sculptures come together on the floor, I arrange them until something hits me as right. I don't cut them or alter them in any way except to color them with wood dyes. These pieces are reliefs, meant to be hung on the wall. They are ready to hang.
