ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Description: Scandinavian Burqa lends inspiration from the Scandinavian social democracy.A frame of mind in which all are created equal, and should behave and dress in a similar much of Scandinavia, and in particular Norway (where I live), setting oneself outside this accepted norm is frowned upon.Another aspect typical of Scandinavian culture is a relaxed attitude to nudity. Sunbathing topless is socially accepted, although I am told, not at the moment fashionable.Scandinavian Burqa was a result of these two Scandinavian irregularities. Medium: stone wareYear Created: 2009

Born 1970, London England. MFA from The Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO). My current work deals with industrial products from distopian futures; space helmets designed for religious expansion in space, and bomb suits tailored for the mundane acts of shopping and child`s play in a future society gone bad.
