the work sedimentary bodies portrays through fragmented photographs, printed on rocks, different types of bodies breaking with the dichotomous view between materiality-spirituality,sensitivity-consciousness, feeling-thinking, nature-culture, body-spirit. Here, bodies are considered to represent identities, historical relationships in a dialogue with oneself, with others, with the world, in the world. Therefore, in this work the body works as a social symbol, with historical baggage and, when self-recognized by the individual and their people, an ancestral symbol. A symbol presented in fragmented photographs that together with the rocks propose an awareness of the body that is, and always has been, an instrument of struggle and social transformation. The choice of the name sedimentary bodies connects with the process of formation of sedimentary rocks because our bodies in the world, in their social relationships have constant experiences with other bodies. These experiences are a combination of wear and tear, breaks, sediments, and debris that form this body, which can be compared to the formation of the rock that breaks, wears and becomes different sediments from these natural relationships. The spaces of the rock merge with the features of the body. There is a dialogue between the rock body and the human body. Body and rock become one, with their particularities, but having as its axis what is life itself. Therefore, the sedimentary bodies, if multiplies (or pluralizes) proposing a thought-intervention and tracking our spaces. Tracking against hegemonic spaces. Tracking somehow the world itself, suspended by its spatio-temporal, geo-political, nature-cultural and individual-social being, and here built on expanded fragments of our existence.

My name is Anna Menezes, I live in Brasilia in Brazil, I'm 25 years old and I'm an artist, photographer and researcher. My work started with photography, which is composed, most of the time, in the street and in everyday encounters, I am driven to photograph by the passion of observing people and situations, being and human interactions. From photography, I developed a work in which I start from concerns about what could be the movement in the static object, where I produce results from the transfer of photographic film to concrete, in a transformation from two-dimensional photography to three-dimensional object. My work as a whole seeks to break the negative imagery and prejudices, as well as other looks at bodies: black; of the woman; of LGBTQI+ community; peripheral subjects and; finally, from the Cerrado. Everything that is historically seen in a negative and undervalued way, my work sharpens and expresses beauty. My idea is to contribute to a different reality, awakening in the public the pride of being Cerratense and of being Brazilian.
