Self Love Sculpture

This work is part of my series on self reflection and looks to use the motif of the circle to animate the often twisting emotions we feel about ourselves. Like most of my work, I am inspired by many artists of abstraction such as Motherwell, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Frank Stella and Josef Albers. I use back painting to represent energy of the subject using color as a hint to what lies beneath our feelings and self examinations. I feel using cutout, separating the subject from the plane, is fitting for emotions have no boundaries. The piece is mounted 3/4" from wall using a French cleat.
