About The Artwork

The more I escape from myself through the clay, the more the result of this path seems to bring me closer to an essence which is not quite me but which I belong, at the exact point of conjunction where come apart and come together, perhaps, the darkness and the light. // Stoneware, metal oxides, enamels (wood firings) // 2018/2020. // This piece combines several enamel techniques - in particular that of "celadon" - and required three slow and long wood firings at high temperatures. It has also a peculiarity that testifies to what the magic of firing can sometimes bring us, a unique gift. At the end of the blue zone present at the back of the head sits a marvelous hanging "Deep Blue Drop", stopped, frozen like a thought before the Ineffable.

Nicolas-Pierre Réveillard is a French sculptor and ceramist born in Nantes in 1978. "Beyond the flames, the quality of a silence, which thickens, becomes consistency... The hand imprints an unknown language on the clay. My hands work to elaborate what I do not know. They do not know where they go but they go there anyway... I try not to oppose it."
