Fragment of gray clay vessels with self portrait from a series of photographs. The portrait communicate gentleness, tranquility, tenderness, a meditative state and intimate touch.
The choice to work on fragments of tools is significant to my work because it emphasizes the beauty of imperfection, and connects to the parts of the Japanese aesthetic that I adore, which emphasize beauty in what is imperfect, flawed and old.
The work is on the border between a relief and a painting, it can be placed as a sculptural object and can be hung directly on the wall using a hanging hook attached to the back. It is not framed.

Please pay attention to demonstration of the size of the work – it is a small piece of art

Shipping & Returns

Ayelet Zer Sheinboim ceramic artist . In my work I use fractions of vases (shards) which I paint and print on them images that I take from my old family albums, landscape photographs and drawings of admired artists. I deal with issues of memory and belonging to different groups (like family, womanhood…). Working on small scale, holding the broken piece in my hand and painting or printing on it make me feel very intimate with my work and I hope that this feeling will pass to the viewer.
