This work was inspired by the work of sculptor Louise Nevelson. I see the potential of a sculpture in found and scrap wood. I sometimes feel I am essentially a painter, but a flat canvas terrifies me - I am more intrigued by painting three dimensional objects. I paint shapes and forms as if they were flat - I put in the shadows and highlights which sometimes contradict the actual play of light across the surface.
