About The Artwork
Unlike the majority of my artworks, which are composed of organic-wise textures, my series "Silver Geometry^ is inspired by the ancient cobblestones streets of Rome, the city I live in. It is created by placing low parallelepipedons of various thickness and size atop a wood board. Afterward, three coats of epoxy resin are used to coat the squares, round the edges and welding the piece, then the textured surface is gilded with genuine silver leaf 1000/1000 The leaf was then burnished with jewish bitumen to obtain a pale gold, aged look. The dark bitumen collected in the recesses enhances the relief. A final coat of shellac protects the artwork and prevents further oxidation. My work is deeply influenced by nature, mostly wavy, abstract forms based on what I see on wood, bark, vegetables, animal or a rock formation. I focus on a particular organic texture and I bring it in the circumscripted space of an artwork. My wall reliefs with their three-dimensionality, can be observed from multiple angles and different kinds of lighting will have different impacts on the artwork. The physical textures create patterns of variation that stimulate the sense of sight and touch. I like to create patina on metal finishes since the oxydation is always unpredictable, different and unique. Through my website I collaborate with collectors, art consultants and interior designers, creating bespoke pieces of art custom designed for each project.
